Dive school
Many visitors come to the Maldives to enjoy the unique, beautiful under water scenery. With excellent dive sites in the area Meeru is the ideal choice for a diving holiday.
More than 50 dive spots offer something for everyone. Leisurely dives on reefs protected from strong currents exciting drift dives in channels and wreck dives.
The marine life includes a fantastic variety of hard and soft corals, dense schools of reef fish and regular encounters with dolphins, sea turtles and pelagic fish like Manta Rays, Eagle Rays, Sharks, Barracudas and Tunas.
Ocean-Pro also offers snorkeling excursions and courses. On these popular trips 2 reefs are visited and dolphins, turtles and rays can be seen.

Meeru’s dive centre is operated by Ocean-Pro dive team, a swiss-based company with many years of diving experience in the Maldives and dive centers on 7 different Islands.
Ocean-Pro is a PADI Gold Palm facility offering a complete range of diving courses from beginner to divemaster.
The team of 10 Instructors and divemasters from several countries is multilingual and English, German, Italian, French and Spanish are spoken..
The modern and new equipment includes 70 complete sets of scuba gear (wet suit, BCD, regulator, diving computer, mask, snorkel and fins), 130 tanks (11,4 ltr, Aluminium, INT and DIN fittings), Surface signal buoys are provided free of charge.
Under water torches and cameras are available for hire and Ocean-Pro’s retail shop sells a variety of diving equipment, accessories, T-Shirts etc.
There is a storage room in the Centre for both rental and private equipment. Fresh water and shower is provided for rinsing the equipment.
The workshop at the centre is equipped with the necessary tools and spares.
Wet room
Ocean-Pro offers a range of diving trips by boat.
Morning and afternoon dives are offered every day and 2-tank dives, full day excursions, early morning and night dives are organised regularly.
Meeru’s dive sites are reached within 10-60 min by boat. Speedboat diving is offered on the regular schedule and permits to dive even long distanced reefs.
Classic dive spots of the North Male Atoll are dived on half day or full day excursion.
Since May 2003 we offer Speed boat diving and we reach dive spots in the whole North Male Atoll. NITROX diving is available from June 2003 onwards.Attractive dive packages are available for certified and non certified divers. Please don’t forget to bring your diver certificate and logbook or get certified here.
Being a PADI Gold Palm Centre Ocean-Pro offers a complete range of diving courses and experience programs from beginner to advanced levels. The multilingual Instructors speak English, German, French, Italian and Spanish and teaching materials (videos, manuals) are available in these languages. 3 Classrooms air conditioned, TV-Video and all PADI education facilities are provided.
We teach all PADI courses, from beginner to assistant Instructor and numerous speciality courses.

Turtles, Napoleon Wrasse, Dolphin, Whale Shark, Whale, Berried and small lobster, Conch, Giant Clam and Black Coral.

The following items may not be exported in any form, be it souvenirs or products for commercial use:
Turtle, Eel, Pufferfish, Parrotfish, Skate and Ray, Bigeye Scad under 15 cms (6 ins), Bait fish used in tuna fishery, Dolphin Whale, Lobster, All Stony Coral, Triton Shell, Trochus Shell Pearl Oyster and Black Coral.
Playing with the fish
Divers and photographers often hold or seize fish or other species, often stroking them as a friendly gesture or to get them into a good position for a shot, or just for fun. Most fish have a very fine protective layer of mucus on their skin or scales.
Stroking or touching the fish can damage this protection, even if it is done with the utmost care. Undesired parasites settle in, causing it great pain and discomfort. Similarly, dragging creatures out of their hiding places could cause stress on their bodies, causing impact lesions on the animal's internal organs.
Divers have been known to 'ride' mantas or hold on to turtles as they swim, often mistakenly thinking that the creature also enjoys the company.
However one can imagine the stress that this could cause them as they try to flee from the diver.
